Day 1: Berlin

Now that our bloggers are rested and stuffed with hot breakfast, here is their report on our first day in Berlin!

The first thing we did when we got to Berlin , after around 8 hours of being on a plane, was visit the Kaiser Wilhelm Churches. One church was the original building that had been damaged from World War II and another church that stands next to it has been newly built. They both serve as a reminder of World War II. Next we all had some time to get some lunch and explore the city. My group and I got curry wurst for lunch and then went to the mall for shopping and looking at the monkey exhibit from the roof. After walking around the city and looking at some architecture, we went to the DDR Museum, learning about the Cold War in Germany.

After the DDR museum the group went to explore the Alexander platz square which is filled with shops, and public art. One art piece showed the times around the world! In the square Sasha challenged street dancers to a dance battle but sadly we had to leave. After that we went to the Jewish quarters to look around and to eat. For dinner we had pork or veggies, and potato with sour cream. Then we took the subway to the Reichstag! We were able to get all the way to the top for some great views! Once we were all done at the Reichstag, we went out for Haagen Daaz but they were closed so we settled for dunkin donuts.
